Piece of cake. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. The straw that broke the camel’s back. You’re driving me up the wall!
Phrases like these are examples of figurative language. The fourth graders in Kelly Hanson’s and Jim Paquin’s classes recently learned about figurative language, and designed T-shirts to show how such phrases may be interpreted literally.
