Students attending B-P’s Summer Academy practiced real-world skills when they hosted a bake sale on Wednesday. Using play money, students “sold” baked goods they made to parents, staff and other Summer Academy students and faculty to practice their basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication) and using money in a practical situation.
Teacher Rebecca Gregory said the sale was part of a two-week lesson on how to create and run a business. Students developed business plans, logos and slogans. They also conducted market research by surveying their peers about their favorite baked goods.
