The Bosom Buddies Club at Broadalbin-Perth High School has been hard at work this year knitting and crocheting “bosoms” for women dealing with breast cancer, and on Thursday had the chance to gift them to two women.

The club, which meets weekly, has made 20 pairs of the prosthetic bosoms, which are washable and include filling that can be removed or added according to the wearer’s preference.

Joann Morgan and Diane Juliano visited the club at BPHS Thursday to pick out forms for themselves and Morgan’s sister.

“I think it¹s really great, and as a cancer survivor, I really appreciate it.” They were there to pick out breast forms for themselves and for Joann’s sister.

The students also have designed and created packaging for them and will continue looking to connect the finished product with local breast cancer survivors. Club members include Allie Hadley, grade 12; Ariana Keller, grade 10; Cory Faulkner, grade 10; Samantha Bedell, grade 11; Hope Freeman, grade 9; Jessie Brooks, grade 11, Kira Coon, grade 9, Ruth Tavolaro, grade 10; Erin Morrison, grade 10 and Aileen Halloran, grade 9.

Senior Emma Holland designed the text on the packaging, and sophomore Faulkner designed the logo.

Experienced knitters are invited to work with club members to make the breast forms. Please contact club adviser Wendy Carroll at carrollw@bscsd.org.
