Volunteers from Guiding Eyes for the Blind recently visited pre-K classrooms at TLC to educate students about living with a visual impairment and what their organization does to create and support life-changing connections between people and dogs.
Cheryl Lawyer, a puppy trainer with Guiding Eyes, and her guide dog-in-training, Clyde, demonstrated the various ways that guide dogs help people with visual impairments gain independence.
Guiding Eyes for the Blind is based in Yorktown Heights, NY, and Patterson, NY. All of their services are offered free of charge to people and families who need them. Since its foundation 1954, the organization has graduated more than 7,000 guide dog teams.
