Today’s B-P Summer Book Club selection is “Old Yeller,” by Fred Gipson. This classic novel is recommended for students entering fifth and sixth grade. In the beginning, young Travis can’t stand Old Yeller. The dog was ugly and a thieving little rascal. However, Old Yeller could be a huge help on the Texas frontier, especially with Travis’ grandfather away. Later, Old Yeller proves that he can protect Travis’ family from anything. The real question is, can Travis protect Old Yeller in the same way?
