When Broadalbin-Perth residents go to the polls on Tuesday, May 21, they will be considering two ballot propositions and electing one person to serve a five-year term on the Board of Education.
Proposition 1 is the proposed $38,074,070 budget for the 2019-20 school year. The proposed budget represents a 3.9% spending increase and a tax levy increase of 3.9%, which is below the district’s calculated tax levy “cap.” A simple majority of voters (more than 50%) is required for budget approval. The proposed spending plan maintains staff and programs at current levels and expands opportunities for students. Learn more at our budget page.
Proposition 2 is a proposal to purchase three 66-passenger buses and one 20-passenger bus at a cost not to exceed $435,583. The state will pay for approximately 77% of that cost, and the district will trade in the old vehicles to reduce the purchase price of the new vehicles. Purchasing the new buses would result in no tax increases.
Voters will find the Board of Education election on the back of their ballots. Incumbent Ed Szumowski is running unopposed for re-election.
