Broadalbin-Perth is bringing the “More than Sad” program to Parent University, Tuesday, Nov. 6, in a special session focused on mental health and suicide prevention education for parents. The session is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Virtual AP Room at BPHS.

“More than Sad,” a program of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), has taught communities across the country how to be smart about mental health. During the Nov. 6 Parent University workshop, parents will learn how to recognize signs of depression and other mental health issues in their children, how to initiate a conversation about mental health, and how to seek help.

Marianne Reid Schrom, a 1996 B-P graduate and former BPHS teacher, will lead the discussion. Schrom is a member of the National Loss & Healing Council of the AFSP.

Parents interested in attending this session are encouraged to complete the online registration form, which helps organizers with planning activities. Note, this session is NOT appropriate for children; however, free childcare will be available.

Information about other upcoming Parent University sessions is available on the B-P website.
