Broadalbin-Perth Intermediate School crowned one student spelling bee champion on Friday, February 5, with another contest yet to be settled.
In the fourth-grade spelling bee, Logan Aery outlasted runner-up Antonio D’Aniello. Aery correctly spelled “bonkers” to secure the top spot and a chance to participate in the county-level competition next month.
In the fifth-grade bee, the final two spellers, Ethan Brott and Erica Lin, made it to round 24 before the contest had to be put on hold for dismissal. They will resume on Monday.
