Students at Broadalbin-Perth Intermediate School capped their month-long Jump Rope for Heart campaign with a school-wide event Monday, participating in jumping activities at different stations set up throughout the middle school gym, including individual jump-roping, partner jump-roping, Skip-It, and jumping with hula hoops.
The event wraps up a three-week unit on jumping rope that students have been doing in their physical education classes. Throughout the unit, PE teacher Vincent Calderone has been talking with the students about the importance of physical activity, nutrition and making healthy choices, and sharing heart and health facts from the American Heart Association during morning announcements. The students have also been raising money for the American Heart Association since Feb. 5.
More information about the school’s health and fundraising efforts are available on its Jump Rope for Heart fundraising page.
