Prior to the start of their regular monthly meeting, members of the Broadalbin-Perth Board of Education toured the Broadalbin and Perth campuses, viewing progress being made as part of Phase 1 of the district’s $39.7 million capital project. Travis Mitchell from Environmental Design Partnership, LLC, and Nolan Smith from CSArch led the tour and answered board members’ questions.
At the Perth campus, board members saw the new faculty/staff parking lot, bus area, and parent/visitor parking lots defined by curbing. Paving is expected to be complete by the end of the week, and the parking lots will open when the school year begins.
At the Broadalbin campus, board members walked the redirected entrance road from Route 126/Pine Street and the new access road to the baseball and softball fields. The varsity baseball and softball fields, both of which will have irrigation systems and permanent home run fences, will open in time for the spring 2018 season. The JV baseball and softball fields will be ready for the spring 2019 season. Board members also checked out the new synthetic turf surface at Patriot Field, where the varsity football team was practicing.
