Clik here to view.B-P wants to make it as easy as possible for residents to cast their complete ballots when they go to the polls Tuesday, May 16. That’s why we’ve created an annotated sample ballot that residents can reference (click here or on the image to download a full-sized version).
Why the need for an annotated ballot? All ballot propositions are written by attorneys and it can sometimes be difficult to understand the ballot language. Plus, on the actual ballot, each proposition is labeled simply as “Proposal Number One,” “Proposal Number Two,” etc. The annotated ballot labels each proposition — “2017-18 Budget,” “Bus Purchase,” etc. — and provides corresponding plain-language summaries.
Voters will find the Board of Education candidates on the back of their ballots. Incumbents Robert Becker and Stephen Syzdek are running unopposed for re-election.
Residents with questions about using the optical scan voting machines — the same machines used in primary and general elections — can ask poll workers for assistance. They can also click here to watch a short video produced by the Warren County Board of Elections that serves as a step-by-step voting guide.
Polls will be open Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Residents who live in the 12010, 12070, 12078, 12086 and 12095 ZIP codes will vote in the middle school gymnasium, 1870 County Highway 107, Amsterdam. Residents who live in the 12025, 12074, 12117 and 12134 ZIP codes will vote in the high school gymnasium, 100 Bridge Street, Broadalbin. Individuals who have questions about voting should contact District Clerk Georgia Baldwin at 954-2500, option 5.
