The Broadalbin-Perth Board of Education approved the appointment of Matthew Ehrenreich as district director of athletics on Monday, April 24. Ehrenreich is scheduled to start in the position on July 1.
A Canajoharie native, Ehrenreich will return to the region after working as a physical education teacher at Browns River Middle School in Jericho, Vermont, since 2014. During his time at Browns River, which is part of the Mount Mansfield Modified Union School District, Ehrenreich also assisted the school’s athletics director and coached various football, baseball, basketball and soccer teams.
“Growing up in Canajoharie, I always saw B-P as a top-tier program,” Ehrenreich said. “The first turf field I ever played on was at B-P. I have had many experiences at B-P, and all of them were positive. I’m excited for the opportunity to come back to this area and have a positive impact on the lives of students.”
Ehrenreich earned his master’s degree in athletic administration from Western Kentucky University, his bachelor’s degree in physical education from SUNY Cortland, and his associate’s degree in physical education from Mohawk Valley Community College. A three-sport interscholastic student-athlete, Ehrenreich played football, basketball and baseball for four years at Canajoharie.
