Four Broadalbin-Perth programs have been selected to receive grant funds from the Stewart’s Holiday Match Program.
$500 for the high school’s FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) robotics team
The Nut Jobs will use Stewart’s Holiday Match funding to purchase an FTC competition set, which includes a selection of 843 components for building a robot that can successfully compete in the FTC competition.
$500 for the Patriot Coffee Cart
Students in BPHS’s Life Skills program will use their grant funds to purchase kitchen equipment, pans and utensils to use to make baked goods and other snacks to sell on their Patriot Coffee Cart.
$400 for Elephant Immersion course
First-grade teacher Cindy Hartney will use the funds to support an Elephant Immersion course, which will offer a hands-on, cross-curricular, student-directed learning experience for elementary-age children centered around the theme of elephants. During the course, students will plan and complete projects leading up to a culminating Elephant Fair, where they will showcase what they have learned while raising money to foster an elephant through the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.
$250 for the B-P Ringers
The B-P Ringers, a handchime choir composed of students in grades 3-5, will use the funds to purchase new music stands and sheet music.

From Thanksgiving Day through Christmas Day, customers donated more than $926,000 to the program, which was doubled to more than $1.85 million with the Stewart’s match. After this record-breaking season, the donations will help fund 1,737 children’s charities and organizations. The Stewart’s Holiday Match program has now allocated more than $24 million since the program’s inception in 1986.
