Broadalbin-Perth Intermediate School crowned three students spelling bee champs on Friday, Feb. 10, as third-, fourth- and fifth-graders competed in the annual event.
Winners of the fourth- and fifth-grade bees earned their place at the county-level competition, which will be held in Gloversville next month.
In the grade three bee, Maddox Nichani took first place by correctly spelling “passage”. Camille Richards was the runner-up after incorrectly spelling “knitting”.
Mackenzie Barkley won the fourth grade bee by correctly spelling “pauper”. Devon Oakden was runner-up.
The fifth grade bee lasted more than 30 rounds, with Gabe Martin outlasting Logan Aery by correctly spelling “gallons” after Aery misspelled “tollbooth”.
