Dear BPIS Families,
The elementary Halloween parades have long been an October staple in the Broadalbin-Perth Community. Each year, TLC and the intermediate school work together to coordinate this event to allow for students to show off their costumes to family and friends in a safe and organized manner. We have worked together again this year and would like to take this opportunity to share our plans.
In the past we have tried different ways to ensure all parents get a chance to see their children parade in costume. This year, like last year, TLC and the IS will hold separate parades spaced far enough apart to avoid one interfering with the other. On October 31st, the intermediate school will parade around the Perth walking track at approximately 10:45 am. TLC’s parade will be begin approximately 9:50 am. Our hope is that there will be enough time between the two for families with children in both schools to see at least part of both parades. As always, costumes are welcome but please note that costumes incorporating blood, gore, and/or weapons of any kind are strictly prohibited. If you are not sure if your child’s costume is appropriate, please contact the office before the event. Please also note that family members/guests are not to wear costumes. It is important we know who everyone is. I do encourage guests to position themselves all around the track as it is a long walk and visitors usually stand near the parking lot and students have no audience for a large portion of the parade.
I anticipate a large crowd for the parade here at Perth and, as with any community event at our site, parking is limited. Additional parking will be available across the street at Perth Bible Academy. In the event of rainy weather, we will plan to hold the parade inside during the same timeframe.
October 31st is a half day and student dismissal begins at 11:20 am. Parents/guardians who wish to bring their child home after the parade are welcome to do so. I ask that you send a note to the office on or before October 31st stating your intentions. After the parade, classes will line up outside and teachers will have sign-out sheets. You can sign your child out with his/her teacher and head out to enjoy a fun-filled Halloween!
This is always an exciting and fun time of year. We look forward to seeing the clever and creative costumes you come up with.
Sincerely,
Daniel Casey
