Today’s B-P Summer Book Club selection is “The Book Thief,” by Markus Zusak. In World War II Munich, Liesel Meminger can’t resist books, but she also can’t afford them. So, she steals them. Then she shares her books with her neighbors during bombing raids, as well as with the Jewish man hidden in her basement before he is marched to Dachau. Whether or not you’ve already seen the movie based on it, reading “The Book Thief” will remind you of the ability of books to feed the soul.
