All Broadalbin-Perth students in pre-K through grade 12 will shift to 100% remote learning Tuesday, Jan. 26 through Monday, Feb. 1. Students will return to their regular learning models on Tuesday, Feb. 2.
The decision comes as a direct result of the increase in COVID-19 cases in the school community. As of Monday, Jan. 25, more than 200 students are quarantined and more than 40 employees are quarantined – including bus drivers and cleaners.
Superintendent of Schools Stephen Tomlinson said that the district will not be able to offer a child care program for the children of essential workers during this period of remote learning because of a lack of adequate staffing.
Employees who are not subject to a quarantine order should still report to work as usual.
Friday, Jan. 29 will be a half day of learning for all students; the scheduled professional development half day will continue as planned that afternoon.
